If sleep isn't curing your exhaustion, you aren't just tired—your nervous system is stuck in survival mode. Here is how to distinguish between burnout, depression, and trauma.

It is a Sunday afternoon. You have nowhere to be. The house is relatively quiet, your to-do list is temporarily paused, and you have theoretically done everything right to "rest." You took the warm bath. You slept in. You put your phone in another room. And yet, as you lie there, a heavy, bone-deep exhaustion pins you to the mattress. It is a fatigue that sleep does not touch. It is a tiredness that feels less like a lack of sleep and more like a lack of life. I know this exhaustion intimately. In my own life, there was a season where I was doing everything by the book to recover my energy, but I woke up every single morning feeling like I had run a marathon in my sleep. That season broke me open. But it also built me. What I learned—and what I now teach through The Survival-to-Thriving Intensive—is that we are often trying to solve a soul-deep nervous system problem with surface-level self-care. You have likely been told that you just need better sleep hygiene. You've been told to drink more water, take your vitamins, and maybe practice a little mindfulness. But if you are waking up exhausted day after day, you are not dealing with a physical energy deficit. You are dealing with a frequency deficit. Surviving and living are not the same thing. And you cannot vibrate higher from a place of survival. To understand why you are so tired, we have to look at the intersection of your biology, your emotional wellbeing, and the truth of your eternal soul.
