When your child's meltdown triggers rage or panic, it isn't a sign you are a bad mother. It is your Inner Child Metric signaling exactly where your own nervous system needs healing.

You are standing in the kitchen. It is 5:30 PM, the notorious witching hour. Your toddler’s favorite cup is in the dishwasher, and you’ve just handed them the blue one instead. The meltdown is instantaneous. A piercing, full-body wail that reverberates off the cabinets. As a mother, the script says you should scoop them up, exuding limitless patience and gentle regulation. But that is not what happens in your body. Instead, your chest tightens. Your jaw clenches. A sudden, terrifying wave of rage or an intense urge to flee washes over you. And then, almost immediately, the shame hits. What is wrong with me? Why am I so triggered by my own child crying? I know that guilt. I know the heavy, quiet tears shed after bedtime when you replay the moment and promise to be better tomorrow. But I need you to hear this: You are not broken, and you are not a bad mother.
